Charlie Cox Recalls Thinking “Born Again” Series Was Finished: “It’s Over”

Marvel fans were delighted when Marvel Studios decided to integrate Charlie Cox’s Daredevil into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, no one was more surprised by this decision than Cox himself. After Disney’s agreement with Netflix ended and the cancellation of all Defenders-verse shows, it seemed like those beloved characters had no future. Thankfully, much has changed over the past few years.

Charlie Cox reprised his role as Daredevil in the MCU, making appearances in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “She-Hulk.” Meanwhile, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin featured in “Hawkeye” and “Echo.” In the upcoming “Daredevil: Born Again,” more actors from the original Netflix series will return. Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Jon Bernthal have all been confirmed to join the new installment.

Cox was genuinely taken aback by these developments, as he had long considered his Daredevil role to be over. In a recent interview, he revealed that he had lost all hope of returning to the character before receiving a call from Kevin Feige in 2020. “I completely let go,” Cox said. “I’d moved on, and occasionally Vincent and I would chat. He would say things like, ‘Oh, they’re going to call. I think they’re going to call us.’ And I would get off the phone and think, ‘The guy’s delusional! He’s got to let it go. It’s going to be 10 years, and he’s still going. It’s over. It’s definitely over.'”

“Daredevil: Born Again” is scheduled to be released exclusively on Disney+ in March 2025, so fans will have to wait a bit longer to see their favorite characters back in action. However, a trailer is expected soon. The first footage from “Born Again” was shown at D23 earlier this month but was not released online.

The footage showcased many of the popular Daredevil characters in action and confirmed the “Mayor Fisk” storyline, where Kingpin runs for New York City Mayor. It also revealed that the character White Tiger will be part of the show, integrating into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There’s no specific timeline yet for the public release of the “Daredevil: Born Again” trailer, but anticipation is certainly building.
