The popular Netflix series chronicles Emily’s work and romantic escapades, highlighting the cultural experiences and challenges she faces as a young American in Paris. Following the release of Season 4 Part 1 in August, the series quickly garnered immense popularity, achieving nearly 20 million views within its first week.

Darren Star, the creator of the series, expressed enthusiasm about the future of the show. “We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” he shared with Netflix’s Tudum.

The official announcement on social media confirmed the return of the series with the message, “There’s no place like Rome. Emily in Paris is coming back for SEASON 5!”

In Season 4, the storyline shifted between Paris and Rome, revealing Emily’s decision to move to the Eternal City for her career. There, she navigates a new romantic interest, Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, while her previous love Gabriel, portrayed by Lucas Bravo, struggles with letting go of their past relationship.

“Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome,” stated Star, foreshadowing the continued engagement of Emily in both vibrant cities.

Star also hinted at the intense chemistry between Emily and Marcello, stating, “I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection—a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”

Meanwhile, director Andrew Fleming noted the season’s new location offered a refreshing change, both for Emily and the crew. He articulated that the show’s central theme resides in the aspirational fantasy of embracing new places, careers, and life experiences.

“At its core, the DNA of the show is this idea, and it’s a fantasy, but it’s also just this kind of human hope, which is that I could always pick up and go to a new place and start a new job and have a new life,” Fleming explained, highlighting the universal appeal of the storyline.

As fans eagerly anticipate the unveiling of Season 5, the excitement surrounding the series remains palpable. Season 4 is currently available for streaming on Netflix, keeping viewers engaged in Emily’s escapades.
