Made Me Feel Like a Baddie

Gilbert Arenas experienced an unexpected surprise during a night out with his girlfriend, Melli Monaco. While at the club with friends, Monaco pulled out an engagement ring and proposed to Arenas in front of everyone. Clearly caught off guard, Arenas eventually said yes and shared the heartwarming moment on Instagram.

“Melli Monaco surprised me with an engagement ring. Got me feeling like a Baddie. City Boys they’re giving us engagement rings now!”

The club’s staff added to the ambiance by holding up signs that read, “Men wear engagement rings too” during Monaco’s proposal. Initially shocked, Arenas quickly grasped the situation and accepted the proposal. He celebrated by running around the club, showing evident joy at what had just transpired.

Melli Monaco, a French rapper and singer known for her song “War,” is also a lifestyle influencer. She operates an active Instagram account and YouTube channel, where she discusses a variety of topics, including relationships and cars. Monaco disclosed in an earlier Instagram post that the couple had already been engaged earlier this year, making this moment a more formal way to present Arenas with a ring.

Arenas and Monaco have reportedly been dating since 2022. The former NBA player was previously engaged to Laura Govan. As they start this new chapter, we wish them both all the best on their journey ahead.

Beyond his personal life, Arenas continues his professional endeavors. As the popular host of the “No Chill Gil” podcast, he recently shared his thoughts on why he believes the 2000s were the best era for the NBA.

“The best era is basically for me when I played in it. Right? So from 2000 to 2001 to 2010, 11 is the best era for me. But just like anybody, it’s going to be the era that what made you fall in love with it… I like that era because whoever you consider the great within the last 50 years, is gonna be Michael Jordan, Kobe or LeBron, I got to play against all of them. I got to play against Jordan, Kobe, AI, Dwayne Wade, Vince, so I felt that I got to touch a lot of talent and play against it.”

During his 11-year NBA career, Arenas averaged 20.7 points and 5.3 assists per game. He remains a Washington Wizards legend for many fans, making all three of his All-Star Game appearances while wearing a Wizards jersey. Despite his achievements, Arenas has candidly admitted that he doesn’t see himself as the greatest player in the franchise’s modern history.

Unfortunately, controversies marred Arenas’ career, leading to an early exit from the NBA. However, he has found a new path as a popular game analyst, especially through his podcast.
