MCU’s Fantastic Four Uniforms Revealed

At D23 this weekend, Marvel Studios unveiled a brief video from the set of Fantastic Four, featuring the film’s cast in London. The set, which boasts a retro-futuristic design, shows the ensemble at a dinner table. Johnny Storm, played by Joseph Quinn, sports his Fantastic Four uniform, resembling a sweater and spandex pants paired with a wide, white belt. This matches the overall vibe of the movie, which appears to be set a few decades in the past, likely in another corner of the Marvel multiverse.

The other characters are dressed in more ordinary attire. Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm is seen wearing a black turtleneck, while Reed Richards, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, dons a cardigan over a white button-down shirt. Ben Grimm, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, is in a zip-up hoodie; however, it’s probable that by this point in the story, Ben should have transformed into his iconic orange rock form.

The Fantastic Four logo, with its retro aesthetic, appears to belong somewhere between the 1960s and 1980s. It’s not clear whether all the team members will wear identical uniforms, or if their costumes will be tailored to each character. The contrast between Johnny wearing his uniform and the others in street clothes could suggest that Johnny embraces the superhero celebrity lifestyle more than his family, or possibly needs the suit’s unstable molecules to control his powers.

Fantastic Four is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, which is just two weeks after Superman: Legacy makes its debut. For comic book fans, this means the foundational stories of both the DC and Marvel universes will be on the big screen almost simultaneously next year.

The film, titled Fantastic Four: First Steps, has a star-studded cast. Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) takes on the role of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) plays Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) is Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) portrays Johnny Storm/Human Torch. Additionally, Julia Garner is set to appear as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson will play Galactus. Other notable actors such as Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne have been cast in roles that remain under wraps. The film is directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on WandaVision.
