Ranking Every Taylor Sheridan Show From Worst to Best

It’s no secret that Yellowstone has opened many doors for creator Taylor Sheridan. Since its debut in 2018, a whole world of Sheridan’s shows have graced TV screens across the country, featuring a wealth of famous cast members. Here is a compilation of all Taylor Sheridan’s shows, ranked from worst to best. Let’s be honest, there isn’t a single bad show from Sheridan so far, but there is a reason he’s the busiest man in the business.

  1. Special Ops: Lioness
As with all of Sheridan’s shows, Special Ops: Lioness boasts an impressive cast, including Zoe Saldana, Laysla De Oliveira, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman. The show revolves around a specialized group of female undercover CIA agents fighting the war on terror.

  2. Tulsa King
Starring the legendary Sylvester Stallone, this show is about a former mob leader who relocates to Tulsa, Oklahoma after being released from prison. He then sets out to form his own mob.

  3. Lawman: Bass Reeves
While Taylor Sheridan didn’t write or direct this one himself, he was originally slated to, and he still produced it for Paramount+, so it counts. Starring David Oyelowo, Dennis Quaid, Shea Wigham, and more, Bass Reeves tells the story of the legendary law enforcement officer who became the first Black U.S. Deputy Marshal west of the Mississippi.

  4. 1923
Once again, Sheridan outdid himself with this cast, including Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. The Yellowstone prequel series documents the Dutton family post-World War I and pre-Great Depression. We’re still waiting for the second and final season of 1923, so when all is said and done, it could rise in the rankings.

  5. Mayor of Kingstown
Mayor of Kingstown is one of Sheridan’s original shows, starring famed actor Jeremy Renner. It follows the McLusky family in Kingstown, Michigan, a city where the prison is the only real industry. Acting as mediators between the street gangs, prisoners, guards, and cops, the McLusky family has battled to keep peace in Kingstown for decades, but hope seems elusive.

  6. Yellowstone
Of course, the OG was always going to be in contention for the top spot. However, some fizzle on the back end and an abrupt ending lands it at #2. The constant conflict the Dutton family faces to protect their land has kept us on the edge of our seats from Season 1. Now, we’re just waiting to see how it all wraps up this coming November with the second half of Season 5.

  7. 1883
This Yellowstone prequel series follows the origins of the Dutton family and their trek out west, where they ultimately settle down in Montana. The show perfectly documents the conflicts faced by the Dutton family and other settlers, from Native American attacks to sickness, rattlesnake bites, and squabbles within their group. Once again, a legendary cast including Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliott, and more makes this show stand out. For me, the massive production value elevates this limited series to the top.
