Two years after the storming of the Capitol, accusations and arrests continue. One of the notable arrests includes Hollywood actor Jay Johnston, who was present during the events on January 6, 2021.

Johnston, best known for voicing Jimmy Pesto in ‘Bob’s Burgers’ and appearing in several other TV shows and movies, faces felony charges of obstructing officers during a civil disorder and various misdemeanors. According to court documents obtained by NBC News, he participated in the storming of the Capitol and entered the upper west tunnel, where some of the most violent attacks occurred.

The court documents also indicate that Johnston helped three other rioters by throwing water in their faces and used a stolen Capitol Police shield while rioters fought with police. The FBI identified Johnston through an identification photo and confirmed his presence on Capitol Hill through his lawyer.

The January 6 attack involved around 10,000 people, mainly supporters of Donald Trump. Hundreds stormed into the Capitol to stop the ratification of Joe Biden’s election victory. The aftermath resulted in five people’s deaths and nearly 140 police officers assaulted by protesters.

More than 1,000 people have been arrested in connection with the attack on the Capitol, with hundreds more in the works. The arrests serve as a reminder that no one, including celebrities, is exempt from the consequences of their actions. What happened during the storming of the Capitol was a significant threat to democracy and will not be taken lightly.
