How to Clean Your Headphones: Tips for Maintenance and Longevity

The uses of headphones are numerous, some users prefer to use them so as not to get detached from podcasts and their radio programs, while engaged in other activities. On the other hand, there are the practical ones that use them only to pick up calls, but does not cleaning the headphones affect the sound?
Of course, we must also keep them away from the most problematic factor: water. How to clean the headphones? Whether you have AirPods or headphones of any brand, the cleaning you can give them will help you keep them presentable, free of bacteria and in good performance for many months and even years.
First, we are going to clean the surfaces of earphones and headphones with the use of 70% isopropyl alcohol and small micro cloth wipes. You can also use 75% ethyl alcohol. This cleaning with specialized liquid is not applied to the mesh and components inside the headphones. There is no need to submerge the headphones in water, despite their IPX protection levels. Keep in mind that earwax, dust, and other materials can get stuck in the crevices where sound is emitted: they can easily dampen sound waves.
Removing dirt from the headphones can help extend their useful life and prevent any kind of of future infection. Use a soft-bristled brush to free the metal meshes of stuck materials. Do not try to use products that contain bleach or hydrogen peroxide, they could damage your devices.
Don’t forget to clean the contact points of the bluetooth headset and charging case at least once a week. Using a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush will do the trick.
