PokéStops in Pokémon GO evolve. As planned, Niantic has announced the long-awaited changes in these interaction points of the iOS and Android game world, which has as its proper name the arrival of the Refills, which will allow us to receive best rewards and create new experiences based on the Augmented reality (RA). Let’s take a look at all of those changes and what we can expect from them.
What are Pokémon GO PokéStop Refills?
Recharges of the PokéStops of Pokémon GO are a new feature that will make use of RA mapping tasks that were presented last year. Thus, very soon it will be possible to work together with other Trainers to complete AR mapping tasks and create new AR experiences for players around the world. How? Simply scanning locations of PokéStops in the real world.
Thus, it will soon be possible to recharge PokéStops and Gyms for a limited period of time if we complete AR mapping tasks. PokéStop recharges will be displayed differently on the map, so it will be very easy to distinguish them from normal PokéStops; and any Trainers who spin them will take additional rewards.
“As more Trainers of level 20 or higher perform AR scans of a PokéStop, the rewards for spinning will increase and the PokéStop will recharge for a longer period of timeNiantic explains. “PokéStop Refills will have three visually distinct levels and will level up as more Trainers work together to scan the PokéStop.”
To this end, these are the scanning requirements to reach each level:
- Level 1: 5 scans.
- Level 2: 10 scans.
- Level 3: 25 scans.
How will it be possible to scan a PokéStop in Pokémon GO?
To scan a PokéStop we will have to go to the details page of the PokéStop or the Gym and touch the three dots in the upper right corner. Level 20 or higher is required to complete AR mapping tasks.
- Touch SCAN POKÉPARADA.
- Activate the feature through on-screen prompts if this is your first time scanning.
- Tap the record button to start scanning. Keep the item within the frame and, if possible, walk slowly around the item.
- Touch Go up later or Upload now to upload your scan.
