The creators of DC Universe Online are developing a Marvel MMO

Although it did not reach the popularity levels of other greats of the genre, DC Universe Online was able to create a certain community around it, something that was reinforced after a few years when it was converted to the free to play format. In fact, its creators, Daybreak Games, have been trusted to carry out an MMO set in the Marvel universe, as announced by the company that owns the study, the Swedish company Enad Global 7, at an investor meeting. In charge of this project is also Jack Emmert, who was also the director of City of Heroes and the aforementioned DC Universe Online.

However, according to that announcement, the project is still in an extremely early stage, and we won’t see anything tangible for a few years. Curiously, it is not the first time that Daybreak Games has been linked with Marvel, since back in 2019 it was rumored that they were, indeed, developing a Marvel game, although subsequent dismissals in the studio put aside these rumors. Finally, some assets that could have been used in that hypothetical title.

And more recently, on the Xbox Era podcast, insider Shpeshal Nick claimed that Sony would have signed an agreement with a study to be detailed to create a video game cut from DC Universe Online in the Marvel universe. This insider did not dare to state who the study would be after this game, although he did speculate with the name of Insomniac Games due to some published job openings related to multiplayer aspects. However, it is clear that this will not be the case.

DC Universe Online was launched back in 2011, originally on PlayStation 3 and PC, being exclusive to third-generation Sony consoles. An improved version appeared for PS4 in 2013, just for its launch, while that exclusivity would end in 2016, when it would arrive on Xbox One. Later, in 2019, Nintendo Switch would not be left without its relevant port, already as free to play. .
