The Palestinian ambassador to Argentina, Husni Abdel Wahed, he warned this Wednesday in TN that “occupation“The Israeli from the Palestinian territories” is the cause of all the evils “in the Middle East. “All the rest are consequences, they are derivatives,” he said.

The diplomat spoke in the midst of a serious escalation of violence with the launching of hundreds of missiles from the Gaza Strip towards Israel and shelling by the Israeli air force towards that territory governed by the Islamic Hamas movement. The clashes left at least 43 killed in Gaza, including 13 children, in addition to two Palestinians who died in the West Bank and five Israelis.

Wahed had an extensive dialogue with the journalist Pepe Gil Vidal on the role of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the offensive against Israel and the Palestinian situation in the context of the conflict.

“In this part of the world everything always starts with a rocket that someone always launches from Gaza. This story repeats itself every time ysand they forget the essentials of the problem that is the Israeli occupation”Said the diplomat.

He added: “In three days we commemorate 73 years of the Israeli occupation of Palestine and in one month we commemorate 54 years of the occupation of the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. With all that occupation implies, of repression, murder, deprivation of liberty and ethnic cleansing, to desecrate the holy places, to repress the faithful in their holy places. This is the reality”.

The diplomat blamed the media for having a biased position in favor of Israel in the conflict: “Unfortunately for the mainstream media, the suffering of the Palestinian people does not matter. At the same time that they complain and mourn the death of an Israeli citizen, we mourn the death of dozens of Palestinian citizens. The essence of the problem is occupation. Israel occupies 100% of Palestine ”.

Wahed blamed the current crisis on the Israeli government and said that every time “there is an internal crisis, Israel then exports that crisis by bombarding Palestine, repressing on a new scale.”

“Now Israel has an internal crisis. In the last two years there have been 4 elections, the last in March and they have failed to confirm a government. As a result of this crisis, they export their crisis and implement ethnic cleansing, a Judaization of the Palestinian territory, desecration of holy places and assassinations. Y unfortunately that does not count for the West”, He denounced.

Pepe Gil Vidal also asked him if hundreds of missiles had not been launched from the Gaza Strip. The ambassador implicitly admitted this situation, but with a question: “Hasn’t there been Israeli bombardment of Gaza where more than 60 innocent civilian victims have fallen?”

And he added: “There is always a cause and effect. Occupation does not count for you ”.

The journalist then insisted on the role of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, responsible for the launch of hundreds of missiles in recent days on Israel. The diplomat replied: “This is not about Hamas or the Palestinian Authority. The essence is occupation”.

Following hundreds of missiles fired from Gaza, Israel responded by bombing the Strip, where the Islamic Hamas movement ruled, in an escalation of the conflict that threatens to spread further.

Is a UN mediation possible?

The Palestinian ambassador asked Israel to “end the occupation and allow the Palestinian people to live in freedom and coexist peacefully among Palestinians, Israelis and all the peoples of the region.”

And he stated: “Any mediation where it comes from and that leads to peace is welcome. If it is Egypt it is welcome, if it is the UN it is welcome, but as long as the will of the peoples and the future of our children and their children are respected ”.

In that sense, he said that the solution should not be limited to a cease-fire, but to something definitive. “Less than five years ago there was another confrontation, six years ago another. This is going to be reproduced as long as the occupation continues, as long as there is no definitive solution, a Palestinian State is established that lives peacefully with everyone, including Israel ”, he concluded.
