Disney+ will be the streaming platform where we can enjoy the continuation of Willow, that 1988 movie starring Warwick Davis, Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, Jean Marsh y Billy Barty. The plot of the film tells how a dwarf and a warrior protect a baby from the evil queen Bavmorda who fears the prophecy that indicates how the arrival of a girl will end her reign of terror. The original story was conceived by the same restless mind that I believe Star Wars: George Lucas.
The series will serve as a sequel to the story of the dwarf farmer with magical powers and will be located 7 years after the original adventure. New feats are expected in the same fantastic world inhabited by monsters, fairies, mythological beings and noble warriors. Surely Warwick Davis he will be rejuvenated by some VFX technique to hide his true age.
Willow will have a continuation!
Ruby Cruz was selected as a co-star to replace Cailee Spaeny after an important recasting process for which the reasons are not known. Tony Revolori, known from the franchise Spider-Man, is also part of a cast in which they appear Erin Kellyman y Ellie Bamber. The pilot episode of the series was written by Jonathan Kasdan, who is showrunner with Wendy Mericle.
The director in charge of the series was Jonathan Entwistle, with experience in the series of Netflix The End of the F****g World and I Am not OK with This. Its fantastic characteristic makes it ideal to be re-adapted and this series / sequel will surely attract a large audience wanting to see more adventures in the life of this sympathetic character who is surrounded by a magical world and will arrive on TV in 2022.
